When I met Morrie he greeted me as if I was a longtime friend. I still remember bending over to hug him, the stiff hairs on his cheek brushing up against mine, his warm lips on my face and large meaty hands stretched up from his wheel chair hugging me. He did that to everyone no matter male, female, young or old. He so loved people.
Yes, Morrie was one of kind and he is missed. I wish he was on the planet so I could ask him his secret. How did he instantly love so many people, so easily? What kept him going strong into his 90’s still enjoying life? What was his advice for us all? While I didn’t get the chance to ask, I am so grateful to have a wonderful example of what 90 years could look like, of what a life could mean to so many. Morrie’s love gives me hope and inspiration even though he is no longer in a body, his spirit, his memories, his love lives on.
